  • 199 Photos: Gojira, Lamb of God, Metallica 4 Oct 2009 Atlanta Phillips Arena

As requested! The best of the hundreads of photos I took at the concert...

I know they are blurry pics, but I'd like to see you take better ones from where I was (my seats weren't bad but far enough away so that pics weren't 100%)... I think these are good for concert pics taken by someone in their seat. Anyway, it was the memory. AHHHhhhh..... Trent and I went to the Metallica concert at Phillips Arena 4 October 2009. I drove to his house and then he drove us to the Marta station and from there, we took Marta with other Metallica fans to the concert. i got a Tshirt there. YAY. Then I peed....irrelevant... Went in, met the people next to us (pretty cool I guess?), found out we both got our tix from the same guy for $150, he told us Lamb of God was playing (I didn't know that!). I was super excited.

    Before the show... 6-6:30 pm

Metallica... James said he wanted to set a record tonite...to make it the loudest concert (in Atlanta?). Then they dropped the coffins from the celing (later pics) and they had speakers and lights on them... AMAZING. I get chills. It started with the lighs, though.

An amazing light coming fromt the stage. This concert was INTENSE. And sold OUT! there were quite a few VIP tickets sold too. Absolutely the best thing I've ever seen and the LOUDEST!DSC03455 (2) DSC03469 (2) DSC03471 (2) DSC03475 (2) DSC03479 (2) DSC03504 (2) DSC03621 (2) DSC03635 (2)

Here comes the last song(s)! They dropped balls from the celing. It was Seek and Destroy!

    DSC03659 (2) DSC03670 (2)

Metallica has big balls. haha James asked that the room lights be turned on for the last song because we all promised that we'd give our last bit of energy and he wanted to see it! And the balls were absolutely fun and cool! I jsut wish I coudl have gotten one!

That was the last photo I took *sniffle* I only left after they left the stage. We knew it was the last song because James took his earpieces off and they started destroying the set LOL. James kicked Lar's drums, Lars came after him with a ball somewhat, James or Lars? knocked down a microphone (I think it was lars). That was funny b/c it made a loud sound and he was like "oops".

The final things they said ... was Thank yous and I love yous (really!) Lars said that of all the shows he's played all over the place, this was the best Sunday night crowd he had ever seen. THe concert was the LOUDEST thing I had ever heard too, leaving me slightly deaf in both ears. I went to bed with a severe ringing in my ears and couldn't hear well. I got up with less of a ringing and still couldn't hear well... by abotu 1030, 11 hours later, I could hear almost 100% better. Later in the day, the ringing started to come and go so I guess it'll take me a while to recover from that noise! It wasnt' the music volume as much as the crowd. The crowd went CRAZY! But then again, it was sold out and all seats were filled.

Despite the crowd, the damage done to me was wet boots, wet bag, wet hair because a diet coke was spilled on the floor enxt to me and it got on me and my bag and boots... a cut on my right hand (not bad) and two bruised sore knuckles where I was throwing my fist in the air to the beat and accidentally beat the bar in front of me once. ouch... at least i didn't headbang into it!

  • #198 A Story About a Farmer

Matthew 13.1-9; Luke 8.4-8 From the New Testiment in Contemporary English "God Sets You Free" p50.

The next time Jesus taught beside Lake galilee, a big crowd gathered. It was so large that he had to sit in a boat out on the lake, while the people stood on the shore. He used stories to teach them many things, and this is part of what he taught:
Now listen! A farmer went out to scatter seed in a field. While the farmer was scattering the seed, some of it fell along the road and was eaten by birds. Other seeds fell on thin, rocky ground and quickly started growing because the soil wasn't very deep. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched and dried up, because they did not have enough roots. Some other seeds fell where thronbushes grew up and choked out the plants. So they did not produce any grain. But a few seeds did fall on good ground where the plants grew and produced thirty or sixty or even a hundred times as much as was scattered.
Then Jesus said, "If you have ears, pay attention."....

Jesus told them: If you don't understand this story, you won't understand any others. What the farmer si spreading is really the message about the kingdom. The seeds that fell along the road are the people who hear the message. But satan soon comes and snatches it away from them. The seeds that fell on rocky ground are the people who gladly hear the message and accept it right away. But they don't have any roots, and they don't last very long. As soon as life gets hard or the message gets them in trouble, they give up.
The seed that fell among the thornbushes are also people who hear the message. But they start worrying about the needs of this life. They are fooled by the ddesire to get rich and to have all kinds of other things. So the message gets choked out, and they never produce anything. The seeds that fell on good ground are the people who hear and welcome the message. They produce thirty or sixty or even a hundred times as much as was planted.

I feel that understanding this is SO very important to being a Christian. Look at those around us who are so concerned with money and posession that they forget about being good and doing good for God, and they, instead stray away from the bible. They are those who fell on rocky ground.

Look at those who have suffered in life and now give up on their belief in God... They fell on rocky ground. When people say they no longer believe because "God has done nothing for them", I would like to ask "What have YOU done for God?" "Did you ever give yourself up to be his servant? Have you disconnected yourself from material and what YOU want enough to listen to what GOD wants?"

This may be a silly story, but I'm telling you anwyay. Being human, I want to find the perfect life paterner so I've prayed to God for a list of qualities in a man... I asked for a man with a sense of humor, along with some other qualities and I got the man... but the relationship soon failed. I asked for someone who was PERFECT...someone who followed God, didn't want sex again till marriage, has learned from mistakes, someone who knows the value of the dollar but isn't obsessed with it, someone who will have time for me and come see me who doesn't drink or smoke and is handsome and successful and close to my age... Well he showed up a day or two later but I didn't even get so far as to date him despite our interest in each other. I just felt like it wouldn't work. This has happened! I get what I...want what I... think I...need... but then I realized that what I...wanted didn't work because it's not up to me. Serving God and following God means giving in and trusting Him with what I need and what I should have. Knowing this has helped me. If a relationship fails, so be it, God knew He wasn't right for me!

All this to say, give in and don't worry about the future because it's in Gods hands! Don't just sit and wait though, carry on your life but don't have worries and dread...don't SEARCH for something like a life partner and don't worry about that promotion because that will lead you, as a seed, to rocky ground. You must believe in God and trust him and you will have success.

  • 197 Orange Balls

I made orange balls the other day...and not the kind that a man can get if he accidentaly uses sunless tanner instead of lotion...

They are no-bake orange-flavored cookies that are formed in balls! They are decent.

    RECIPE: No bake orange cookies

    4 c. Graham cracker crumbs
    1/4 c. light corn syrup
    1 c. confectioners sugar
    1 c. finely chopped nuts
1/3 c. Thawed orange juice concentrate (I used more, else you can't taste it)
    1/4 c. margarine, melted

Mix all the ingredients together until well blended. Shape into 1-inch balls. Put them in the fridge for a while to harden...or you can store them at room temperature..makes about 60. They were a tad of a let down because I didn't crush my graham crackers well enough... use the food processor to make graham cracker flour/powder. I bet they'd be better that way.
